I changed the permissions using the commands in terminal. Turns out the permissions were set to read only. ![]() After I upgraded my MAC OS software I could no longer see my external hard drive in finder although it was visible in disk utility. ![]() How to format a drive in Mac OS 10.6 to 10.10. If the drive needs to be formatted then click on the article that matches the operating system. If there is no indented entry then the drive needs to be formatted or run the data recovery software on the drive in an attempt to retrieve your files. WARNING: Formatting erases all data on the drive. Remove a user or group: Select the user or group, then click the Remove button below the list. ![]() In the Sharing & Permissions section, do any of the following: Add a user or group: Click the Add button below the list, select a user or group, then click Select. Enter an administrator name and password. On your Mac, select an item, then choose File Get Info. ![]()
